What’s the Scoop on Blue Spring’s Summer 2025 Water Activities?

Good news, finally! According to a source at Blue Spring State Park, the Blue Spring Run is expected to reopen for in-water activities starting sometime in mid to late summer 2025.

That means swimming, tubing, paddling, snorkeling, and scuba diving are all back on the table—just in time for those warmer days.

The run has been closed since April 2024 for shoreline restoration and habitat improvements. The project aimed to stabilize erosion, rebuild areas along the spring run, and improve dock structures. It’s been a long wait, but it looks like the restoration efforts are wrapping up and the water will soon be open.

What to Expect in Summer 2025

Swimming and tubing return to the springhead and run.
Paddling is allowed again along the full route from the spring boil to the St. Johns.
Snorkeling and diving permitted—always check the park site for any specific updates or restrictions.

While the run remains closed, paddling is still available along the St. Johns River and The Lagoon, with launch options inside the park and nearby at French Landing. If you want to explore these routes, check out my post: Discover the Magic of Paddleboarding at Blue Spring State Park.

Even during construction, the park has stayed open for activities like hiking, birding, camping, picnicking, and boat tours. If you’re planning a full-day visit, I’ve got ideas for you: 14 Must-Do Activities at Blue Spring State Park.
